Hey there gumshoes!
Name's Auger, Mark Auger. As a famous hobbit once said, "It's dangerous business going out your door. You step into the road, and if you don't keep your feet, there's no knowing where you might be swept off to."
Well, Meg and I are about to do just that. I won't be redundant to Meg's post, but perhaps I'll add some details that will prove to be indispensable.
It's been an emotional goodbye over the last little while: saying goodbye to work, to Spanky the puppy, to our friends in Ottawa, to my folks. But as a more masculine man once said, "We don't say goodbye. We say good journey." Yes, that man's name was He-Man. And if anybody knew anything about saying goodbye, it was He-Man.
Yes, I have just referenced a hobbit (one Bilbo Baggins) and He-Man. Meg says I should quote from Star Wars next. Mayhaps I will, Megan. Mayhaps I will. She is now threatening to separate our blogs if I keep quoting from comic books.
But I digress.
First: the road to the west coast. Second: Thailand and beyond. Third: Malaysia (for the long haul). It's going to be quite an adventure! I wish I had one of those maps used in Indiana Jones. You know what I'm talking about, the one where the red line moves from city to city as dramatic John Williams' music thunders in the background.
Picture it: the map of Ontario, a red line drops down from Ottawa to Kingston, it pauses briefly, then veers westward to Toronto and then northward to Elmvale (near Barrie)! As this happens, a montage flies by composed of: a Uhaul truck driving down the road! then a Toyota Tercel! the trees changing colour from green to orange/red/yellow! the Elmvale Fall Fair having a parade in our honour! Meg, Rob and I putting snow tires on the Tercel in prep for the snowy weather ahead...! Dun-dun-dunt-da! (:(... it's difficult to write out how the Indiana Jones music sounds)
Lastly, a wise Jedi once said "My destiny lies along a different path than yours." Well, this is true of all of you who are reading this. All of us have different destinies... But if you are reading this, you are an important person to either Megan, myself or both. I know that our paths will cross again.
Good journey.
